Where can I get a super strong weed killer?
Question:My garden is abit of a jungle at the moment, the weeds are taller than me 5ft 3! I need to find a weed killer that works so I can start my garden from scratch, any ideas on what will tackle weeds of this height? And where can I get it?
Answers:
First off, you will need to cut down the weeds with a weed eater or similar. Spraying them at this height is useless. You will have to remove them anyway once they die off. Cut them down to about 2 or 3 inches in height and spray the whole area with "roundup" this will take care of all the weeds present. You can buy this a any leading garden center like Walmart, Home Depot, etc. Be sure to remove the weed foliage you have cut down to expose what's left of the weeds. They should start to turn yellow and die off in about 1 - 2 weeks.. Mix the roundup using.. 2 oz. of chemical to every gallon of water. This will do the job quite well. Roundup has no lasting residual affect on the soil and breaks down quite readily when coming in contact with soil bacteria and microbes. This will allow you to plant your garden a couple of weeks after spraying. You may want to water the area a couple of times after the original weeds have died off. This watering will cause any dormant weed seeds that have been lying in wait for moisture, to germinate. Then you can respray any secondary weed growth once they germinate. Be sure to mix according to what the label states.. "Never" mix more than what the label requires! Hope this answers your question.. Good Luck!

im a weed killer, naw just joking go to lowes and get some Scott's weed and feed it works really well plus if you do it again in the fall when ifs just about to turn cool in the spring you will have gone from the worst yard to the best on the block.
you can find it lowes or home depot
good luck let me know if i helped you
Bleach, and gas will kill anything permantly.
Other wise you'll have to cut down all the weeds and try round-up for a couple of months till you get enough of the roots.
go to home depot there this thingy that you put on top of a weed and you need to put and comes right out.
Let me tell you its the bomb!
:)
roundup at any good hardware store
well, i doubt you can find just a chemical that works on the weeds at that size- you're beter off geting them lopped down to at least 6-8 inches off up, or as low as you can get. borrow someone's edger, (or weed wacker) so you dont kill your lawn mower. you'll be able to get it down to wear you want it. make sure your wearing a mask and protective eyeware- the cheap fabric masks and goggles you can get at the hardware store. i learned how important hey were the hard way. =/ didnt help my lungs much either
then go to any home depot or lowes, and get a round up concentrate, and a pump sprayer.
round up will kill everything! but make sure you get a concentrate because you get a lot more coverage- and you will need to apply it more than once. for less applications, DOUBLE the amount they say for you to use per gallon. make sure you dont get round up extended control- that will make it almost impossible for you to start anything up for a while.
i would suggest actually getting a dial-and-spray instead of the pump sprayer- you'll cover more faster.
BTW- dont get any kind of weed and feed- you want to kill EVERYTHING. weed and feed WILL NOT do that for you.
You will need a Systemic weed killer which you can get at your local garden center. It take a little longer but it will do the job. plus :-
rubber gloves; spraying equipment if not supplied; secateurs or loppers; stick.
Well for a home owner there are a few things but you must use caution when using any poison. The best thing to do is right after a rain, like the next morning, pull up all the weeds that are tall. Get rid of them. It is easier to pull up a live weed over a dead one. After you have pulled or weed ate or mown them down, cleanup the area. After that, when they start to grow again and are quite short, spray RoundUp or something simular. The chemical is "Glysophate". It normaly mixes at 3 ouces per gallon of water but for this application go with 6 ounces per gallon. A word of caution. If it is windy and the poison blows around, you will kill everything in the surounding area. This poison kills by getting on the GREEN parts of the plant, ANY plant. On the trunk of a tree is fine but spray the leaves and it is doomed. Ortho has a product called
"Brush- be- gone". I dont know the chemical that is in there but the principle is the same. Wear gloves when mixing poison and it would not be a bad idea to wear a mask, especially if you are spraying high up.
It will take about 3 to 7 days to see a change. New growth will be affected more quickly hence gutting down the weeds first.
Good luck and be careful. You dont want to kill something you dont want too.
Oh, you can get these things at any garden center.
If your starting from scratch then use
an industrial strength Total weed killer that will kill all the vegetation and sterilize the ground so nothing grows back for up to a year. Then next year when everything is dead then you can plant in the spring 08. Otherwise if you use the store bought watered down stuff the weeds will grow back and next year you will be asking the same question..
The herbicide is called BARREN and you can get it here direct;

Good Luck with that!
