My strawberries are rotting before i pick them am i leaving them too long when should i pick them?

Question:

Answers:
I don't know if it will help, but I have grown strawberries for the first time this year in tubs and hanging baskets. I have found that although well established plants and healthy and giving some fruit, it seems to me that picking any fruits when they are still a little white/green at the top has been successful and more i have picked off fruits, the more fruit has swollen and ripened faster. I have great hopes for my strawberries next year following this method.

Pick them once they turn red and if you have too many at once,
just wash them off and lay them on a cookie tray and freeze. once frozen put them into a plastic bag in your freezer and enjoy them later.
