St augustine grass is dead?

Question:we are renting our house and about a week ago they planted sta augustine grass! i didnt know that i needed to keep watering it (im from the north) so now its dead. ive been going out there and watering it the last couple days. will the grass still stay brown or will watering it make it green again?

Answers:
I d keep watering the heck out of it and watch. Is it seed or sod? St. Augustine grass will go dorment in the winter if not watered and then will green back up in the spring with watering. Or you can water all year like we do and keep it green all year. New grass though must be watered a lot and especially during the heat. Always water very early am before the real heat. Soon FL will be in their tropical rain season (we hope) which is summer and it will help with the watering too. Once St. Augustine is established two long waterings a week early am between 4 am and 8 am is best. Not everyday shallow waterings which is needed for new grass.

u live in FL? u will need to water daily until the rainy season starts (supposed to be soon) but water twice a day. once in morning and once at night. dont do it during mid day bc it gets too hot and water will evaporate before it can get to grass. it will come back green if u do this. good luck
