Besides a lead pill, how to keep deer out of my veggie garden ?

I had good results with a noisy dog, but the barking bothers the people almost as much as the deer.

Plant marigolds around the perimeter.

Deer hate the smell of marigolds. Or, you could go to some local barbers and get some human hair. They don't care much for it, either.
Buy some of those cheap pinwheels, less than a dollar, and put a couple on the outside perimeter of your garden. The light breeze moves the pinwheels and scares the deer away. My folks use this method and they swear by it.
They also make a spray called "deer off" you could spray your veggies with.
There is a great product called 'Deer Off' that can be purchased at places like Lowes, Home Depot, etc.. I can support that it works to repel rabbits! It's kind of pricey, and smells when you apply it (hot pepper and rotten eggs) but we have had NO bunny munching since we started using it and they are definitely still around. If that doesn't work, then I would go for the lead bullet...:-)
Electric fencing like the ones used for livestock. Any fencing needs to be tall as the deer can jump amazingly high.Baiting. That means planting things deer like better than your vegetables somewhere away from you garden. Fox urine. That needs to be reapplied every few days and after a rain. A tall fence would work but isn't practical. There are ultra sonic products that have proven somewhat effective but may effect your pets.
There is also stuff called deer corn. Hunters use it. It is relatively cheap. Placed away from garden will help keep the deer away. Although these methods work none is 100% effective.
Start urinating around the garden, I am serious. They will associate the garden with that smell and not like it.
put up some 4 foot chickenwire around it!The hair and all that stuff does not work here..our neighbor has 2 dogs and the deer come right up on her deck to eat all her plants..so there goes that theory..as for the marigolds, they will just avoid them. Since we put up the chickenwire we have no problems! Good luck !
For those deer that are a real headache, give them two lead pills and call me in the morning - LOL. I too have had some success with electric fence. I've also had some luck with bird netting as a tall fence, our home owners association doesn't allow fences, but no one even knows it's there. I don't even use posts. I run the electric fence wire through insulators screwed into trees and buildings around my property and "hang" the netting. The only problem I've had is late in the summer the bucks snag the net in there antlers and pull the whole thing down. The net is cheap, and by that time of year they're more interested in procreation than my gardens. I did worry (not very much) that the net could hurt the deer. One old buck wore fifty feet of the net like a crazy "Afro" hairdo (he was the talk of the neighborhood) until after rut with no harm. RScott
I once had an old grower tell me to string fishing line around the Garden about 2 feet off the ground tightly . when they come into it , it feels like a shock and they will not come back .
Put out a salt lick and some corn. Fatten it up for deer season. Forget the garden.
