What is the best type of leaved tree to plant in New Jersey?

Question:

Answers:
The New Jersey Tree Foundation site has information on evergreen and deciduous trees for the state. The website is at http://www.newjerseytreefoundation.org/h... They have a program where they offer free trees such as Green ash, Tulip poplar, Sweet gum, Silky dogwood.

If you get together with some neighbors, the NJ Department of Environmental Protection has a program where free seedlings are offered to groups (a small packaging fee). One tree they offer is Northern red oak - New Jersey's official state tree. http://www.state.nj.us/dep/seeds/treefnd...

The NJ Shade Tree Federation sells a booklet on "Trees for New Jersey Streets" for $6.50. http://www.njstf.org/

Here is a link to Rutgers tree selection guide: http://www.co.hunterdon.nj.us/depts/rutg...
Rutgers also indicates that common trees are callery pear, chestnut, pin oak, willow oak, sourwood, maple, scarlet oak, white oak, red oak, sycamore, locust, and sweetgum.

Hope this helps some. Good luck!

hey i recently planted Cherry and Empress trees a month ago. they don't need much to maintain, just some watching over and barriers from pests (f*cking squirrels!)

within a year they should start budding beautiful flowers. i just planted mine maybe a month ago and they're coming along nicely.

if you have any questions, feel free to e mail me.
