Why did bugs strip all the leaves off my wild rose bushes?

Question:It looks like a piranha came ate my plants! What can I do now?

Answers:
The bugs did it because that is what they do. Your rose bushes will no doubt grow more leaves, but they might not flower this season, tend the plants and wait for the flowers to come next year.

All you can do now is wait until next season. You probably had some Japanese beetles move through, but it could have been any number of insects. I've had a bush stripped bare before and it started leafing back out by the end of the season and came back the following spring. Sorry about your rose. This sometimes happens.
It is food to them. It happened to my rose plants. I used talcum powder. Sprinkle on the leaves in the evening. It helps to prevent them from settling on the leaves. You can wash away the powder in the daytime.
The aphids decided to have a buffet on your roses.

Get some ladybugs and turn them loose on your plants.

Natural and effective.
Bi-weekly spraying with permethrin. Most gardening centers have sprays just for roses. They may need some rose fertilizer if you want them to bloom again this year.

Good Luck!
