Can I burn poison oak?

Question:I have poison oak invading by rose bush. I don't want to use poision/chemicals in my yard. I plan on digging it up, but. can I burn the bush after that? Where I am it is legal to burn.

Answers:
Burning poison oak or ivy will cause the poison liquid to permeate the smoke and spread. It is possible to inhale the smoke and get the poison in the lungs. Place it in a plastic bag and discard it in the trash.

Just throw it in the fire.
if you burn it, the poison is then released into the air. when the oils in the air make contact with your skin or anyone for that matter, you get the poison even worse then had you touched a small piece of it. do not burn it. hire someone to remove it from your property.
No, burning it will cause dangerous vapors that if inhaled can make you seriously ill:

CAUTION: Burning poison oak can result in a dangerous smoke that can cause severe symptoms to the eyes, nose, throat and lungs.
Don't just through it in the fire.. you may be able to catch poison oak from the ash.. you can from Poison Ivy.. i would contact your local Cooperative Extension office.. they should have a Horticulturist.. or contact a local nursery to find out the best way to dispose of poison oak.. if you breathe is poison ivy it can be fatal.. I am not sure about poison oak, so please check it out before you cut and burn. good luck
NO, If you breath it you can end up getting it internaly & I'm sure you would not want that in your system

wear some LONG garen gloves, cut it & put in in trash bags & then toss it into the trash
when you burn this poison Ivy you will be sending airborne particles and smoke that is just as toxic as the plant is anybody that breathes this in will end up in the hospital with poison Ivy in their throat this is very dangerous to do.
Why not pull a black hefty bag over it?
Don't use the flimsy kind, but the heavy duty contractor's variety that are practically tear proof. Pull the bag over the plant first, then dig it up. Once it's out of the ground, flip over the bag and the plant will drop inside.

From there, I'd tie it up and toss it out in the garbage.
NO !! DO NOT BURN THE PLANT !!, nor any other plant that has the first name, "poison", as told by most of the answerer's, this plant has toxic vapors. Wear gloves as recommended, but, toss those in the bag to go', then, "I would highly recommend, after you finish the deed, that you wash up thoroughly, and, clothing that may have came in contact with the NASTY plant needs to be washed ( I would even recommend a splash of vinegar with the wash,...you,won't smell it after the wash<----the vinegar!).As far as your burning question, your local fire department can answer that,on a daily or regular basis, if, it is allowed at all... sincerely, and Good Luck.
No way . The smoke from burning when breathed in will cause the throat to swell and emergency room is required !
