Ants have takenover my lawn. Two treatments haven't worked. How do i get rid of them?

Question:Small brown ones. "millions"

Ortho Max -- bifenthrin --( twice in eight weeks) and there are as many mounds as ever.

The 800 number for ortho suggested I call local coop extension for "home remediy" ideas. Coop Ext. confirmed that bifenthrin is on list to treat and suggested cantelope to attract ants to a mall area so I can kill them more easily.

I've heard opposing opiniions regarding "diatamateous earth"

ANYONE HAVE A "PROVEN" solution.

Answers:
Put small piles of cornmeal where you see ants.
They eat it, take it "home," & can't digest it so it kills them.
It may take a week or so, esp. if it rains, but it works & you don't have the worry about pets or small children being harmed!
In your case you may want to spread it around a bit because of the numbers.

I do know that red peper will keep ants from coming in your home, however, i guess if you tried in on your whole lawn that would just drive them to the neighbors. But if you found a way to accumulate them like others had suggested, then you could treat your lawn with a water mixture with red pepper (cayane pepper) and it and spread it over your lawn. Then the ants should be driven out of the lawn and to your designated area and then you could kill them with a chemical.
I use beneficial nematodes. They kill all kinds of bugs! Read this:

orken...a professional bug/pest control will be able to deal with it. fricking ants are bad this year!
