Getting rid of tree Roots?
Question:I have this area on the side of my house that was overridden with ugly volunteer trees and weeds with roots. I chopped them all down and completely weeded the area, but now I have roots EVERYWHERE! It would take me a month to try and pull them all out. If anybody has a solution please let me know! Thanks!

There are stump grinders (look like a huge chain saw affixed to a small vehicle) that would also work on the roots. If they're small enough, then you could just use a rotatiller. You could also have a truck load of dirt brought in and cover them with a couple inches of soil. Then you could sod over them (or whatever landscaping plans you have). Finally, you could leave them and they will rot away.
Don't ever put salt on your yard or your going to have a hard time getting anything to grow there. Also, it may leach into the ground water and contribute to an environmental problem. The active ingredient in most weed/grass killers (Round-up, etc.) is a sodium derivative, but even those don't contain the raw amount of sodium that rock salt contains.
Be careful what sort of corrosive and caustic chemicals you use. Afterall, I imagine you'd like something to grow there once the roots are gone.
I was told to drill holes in roots or stumps, put milk powder in the holes and cover with foil.then the roots/stumps will rot themselves out.
there is root killer, I think round up makes some.
use rocksalt.
If you are trying to kill the roots buy Roundup concentrate and just pour it on the stumps.
As far as getting the roots out if they are small (less than 1") you can rent a big rear tine tiller and till the heck out of them.
If they are big you might just need a small tractor like a bobcat to pull them.
There are usually people in the area that remove tree stumps with special equipment, it will probably be faster and cheaper in the long run. Look in your yellow pages and try and find one to give you a quote as all other things used to rot the stumps take quite a few years to work. Good luck.
