Does anyone know how to prevent or get rid of mosquitos from around your house or patio?

I use multiple approaches and they seem to keep our enjoyment level on the patio bug free. I installed a ceiling fan on the patio over hang which I turn on an hour or so before entertaining or dining outside. I use mosquito doughnuts which are a natural ring of stuff you put in water to keep the skeeters from breeding. I've got 6 fountains in my backyard and love the sound of water, so draining them for the summer wasn't an option. I also use citronella candles and create a boundary around the patio of cirtronella inscence sticks. They sell huge sticks for 99 cents at the Big Lots which generally last as long as we are out there. I put them at a distance from the patio, but where the wind catches them in a manner that protects the patio area. And, I bought a little solar powered mosquito light/deterent which smells wonderful, the light goes on a dusk and keeps a large area mosquito free.
Citronella plants help
one thing I have heard is to eliminate as much standing water as possible. Mosquitos lay eggs in water and can hatch very quickly.
Citronella candles, bug spray, stuff like that. I haven't found a good way that works yet, lol. If it's a patio where you or your family spend a lot of time outside, it might be worth it to buy a little enclosed screen type of thing for it.
Mosquitos are attracted to water and sweetness.
Get rid of any standing water.
If you have sweet smelling flowers that could be a problem.
But if you hang some birdfeeders, the birds will be happy to eat the mosquitos too.
Eliminate all standing water.
Put up bat houses. They love the little buggers.
Plant Mosquito Plants. They really do work.
I've heard that having a fan outside will help. You can get ceiling fans made for outdoors if you have a roof on your patio. Otherwise you might try a stand fan.
Mix ammonia and a lemon scented dishwashing liquid 50/50. 1 cup of each (two cups) can be used with a 20 gallon hose end sprayer. It will not hurt your yard or plants...it works! Buzzing off from the Mosquito Capital Texas!
My neighbor swears by his 'mosquito magnet', one of those propane tank things that attracts mosquitoes and sucks them into a bag.
