Had some mushroom compost on the soil for 4 mths?

Question:then over night mushrooms have appeared could these be edible ones left doormant from a previous crop

Answers:
Yes, this is a common event. Spent mushroom compost was/is often sterilised to prevent this happening. Obviously identify ANY mushroom before eating them.

We have all had rain lots of it all round the UK, with the weather also being warm its a perfect combination for mushrooms.
Your best bet is defiantly not to eat them until you are 100% sure what they are, buy a cheap mushroom and fungai book to determine what they are, or even look them up on the internet.
the chances of them coming from a previous crop from th compost is remote as the compost is made for mushrooms not that it has been used from crop,s before.
yes
