Cetain type of weed killer thats safe for animals?

Question:I have an unruly small fenced in back yard that no matter how much I pull the weeds out they come back anyone have any suggestions about what to do? Or what kind of weed killer i can spray thats safe for animals because I have a bunny that likes to lay in the back yard and I dont want to get it killed by whatever I would spray back there.

Answers:
Many weed killer say they are not harmful when Dried/absorbed,,,BUT,,I have seen many a Dog still get burns on their paws and get Sick from eating the plants or licking them.

I would try the following,,,,

1/Pull the weeds
2/Hot Water(this can take a while as you need to keep dumping it on the weeds)
3/my old stand by...Vinegar!(just put in a spray bottle and go to town!)
4/Weed Burners( a handy propane torch on a handle!).Fire can be fun if used safely!

Good Luck!

Theres a dilema in that one..almost all of the weed killer i've heard of isn't good on animals..you would have to cage him up or put him inside until it dries and then watch him back there..also it wouldn't be a great idea to let him eat back there for at least a week..i'd say use weed and feed its more like a seeder..you put the seeds in with a little feeder that you have to buy with it...and you walk around your backyard and wind up the little turner and then it sprays the little seeds in the yard and it kills the weeds...it will take maybe 3 to 4 wks to kills everything and fertilize your yard at the same time..you should water the grass first and then do the seeding and then water it again and do it everyday til its gone...it takes a little longer to work but the end results flattering and its not AS bad for pets...good luck
The best by far that works incredibly well and also make your lawn look great and not harm your animals..is SCOTTS WEEDEX...i have two big dogs and a cat that are allways running around the yard and they seem to eat grass once in a while...i use scotts weedex and i don't worry about my dogs getting sick..good luck
I would use regular weed killer. It's not harmful once dried. Spray the weeds on a warm day. Leave the bunny inside for a couple days. Then weed whack the weeds. The salts in weedkiller need to enter into the plant from the leaves. So by waiting a couple of days you allot it to get to the roots to kill the weed but it won't be so wilted that you can't get to it with the trimmer.
You should be able to find a non-toxic (to humans and pets) weed killer at nurseries. It consists of several different oils mixed together (clove oil is one of the ingredients).

Just know that it will kill anything green, so spray carefully.
Our blog has an entry dated May 25th that talks about a product that's a by-product of corn that will be safe for your family and animals.

Good Luck and Happy Gardening from Cathy and Neal!
HI,
I know you probably want a quick way to get those weeds to go away but it might take a little work if you don't want animals to get harmed. The best way to get rid of weeds is by pulling them, but make sure you get the roots if you don't the weeds will just grow back. Pulling weeds is also safe for animals. The thing with weed killers is they don't always get the roots and sometimes in the process of killing the weeds they also kill the plants or grass around them. If they don't kill the plants or grass around them then they probably didn't get to the roots of the weed. Weed killer release chemicals in the air that are harmful to animals. So just pull the weeds. It actually is more fun to pull weeds than to spray a bunch of weed killer. And your yard will look a 1,000 times better in your eyes because you work so much harder for it!!
