Best sprinkler for a small lawn?
Question:My lawn measures about 30ft by 30ft (900 sq ft). I am looking for a sprinkler that will cover only this area so that I don't waste water. I have tried the smallest sprinkler that Home Depot sells, and I still end up watering the sidewalk and the driveway.
Answers:
Use a soaker hose. Just lay the hose in lines up and down the lawn. Water for at least an hour at a time, preferably early in the morning or late in the evening, to avoid evaporation due to the heat of the sun.
The soaker hose idea is a good one.
You could also try multiple small heads (half, full and quarter styles). http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/AE084 or http://cmg.colostate.edu/gardennotes/262...
Or you could look into a sprinkler that sprays in a square pattern. http://www.rd.com/content/opencontent.do... or http://www.irrigation.learnabout.info/ar...
Good luck!
For a 30 X 30 area I would use a two rotors. Position them so they are at far corners of the yard. Rotors are more efficient then spray heads when irrigating. Depending on the rotor you purchase you can change the nozzle size in the rotor to only shoot as far as you need it.
