This is a simple question, contact the International society of arborculture in Champaign, Illinois. They can recommend a certified arborist in your community. Also make sure that the arborist you hire has a certificate of insurance, and insist that your contract is in writing. when working with trees only qualified arborist who are up on the latest techniques and practices of tree removal should be considered. Price varies by location but should be between $150.00 - $350.00 per hr.depending on risk. Good luck and think green

Actually your city in which you live, should have professional tree cuters. You could call your city building and ask them. They will than come out to take care of that for you. It's a service that is paid by your taxes. I live here in Utah, all I need to do is call them and make arrangements for some one to be at home. Perhaps they offer that same service in your area. If all fails, call the local land fill. And ask them what to do. Good luck.
Probably $300-$750 depending on how big the tree is, where it is, and who does it. If there is a danger of it falling on something and destroying it- get a professional with insurance.
If its standing alone by itself, get a fire permit and burn it down! Visit local fire station and ask about this first.

Edited in: You must replace that tree with a new tree near same spot! Choose a tree good for that region, like a native plant/tree.
