Gazebo for my back yard.?

Question:Whats the difference between a water proof and water resistant gazebo?

Answers:
Ah a question that I should have asked before I installed my gazebo! Water resistance means that it is surface treated with a repellant that will resist water in the short term, like rain falling on it. Water proof means that the fiber is infused with a chemical that will keep the water from coming through the fabric. If your gazebo is water resistant, when water sits for a long time on the surface, it will leak through.

I not sure how to explain. I will use wood.
A wood gazebo treated with Thompson's water seal would be water proof as the water bead up and not soak into the wood.
A wood gazebo treated with chemicals like the green we see used for decks would be water resistant. The water may soak into the wood, but, it not do as much harm as untreated wood.
