as a professional, I wont cut any tree for free just for the wood. to much work for not enough money. Now if your willing to clean up the brush (parts not used for firewood), you may have better luck.
The thing you as the homeowner should worry about: if the cutter or property gets hurt on your property, who foots the bill? I as a pro have liability insurance for this. If something gets damaged, its covered. If someone gets hurt, they are covered. If no insurance is present and something goes wrong, its your a**.
Youd be better off hiring a pro to do the work, keep all the firewood, split it and sell it to offset the cost of the job.
Too, when I say pro, not just the average lawn guy. Hire a tree service that has insurance. Ask for a copy if need be. It should come directly from the insurance office.

Yes the wood has a value, but finding the right person that will do it is the hardest part. Have you placed an ad on Craigslist? It is free.
