How do I get rid of grass burrs? My Otterhound is like a pin cushion after she goes out and plays in the yard

Oh my, that's a tough one. I think the only thing you can do is a: have her shaved for summer or b: patiently pick all the burrs out of her fur.

We have to do this with our cocker spaniel...she is a burr magnet. So I put her in my lap while watching TV or DVD and pick at her fur until all the burrs are out, or at least as many as I can get. Then when the weather warms up we have her shaved. It's the only way to save my and her sanity.

Depending on the type of burr I've had some success with spray for hair tangles on my Airedale. The best is the industrial strength for horse manes. It leaves a shiny residue that keeps the burrs from getting so tangled in the first place. RScott
