My 'Playboy' rose tree only has 1 branch of new growth. What should i do?

Question:In late fall we had an extreme warm spell that caused our plants to start blooming, then it went back to freezing temperature. At that time the rose tree was sprouting about 10 new branches, but now we only have one new branch only 3 inches long. We got this plant last year and we are in the correct zone for it (in state of PA). Is there anything we can do for the tree? It was blooming beautiful last year until it came time to prune it for winter.

Answers:
Scratch the bark of the tree to see if it is green. If you see green, then the tree is still alive. Cut all of the dead branches back to within 4" of the graft site. If you have not pruned the dead or winter burn off, then the poor thing is still trying to support it. Cut it off and you should begin to see new shoots within a week or so, depending upon your weather. Make sure you fertilize monthly and that you are keeping it protected from diseases and pests. Good Luck!

okay try putting it in a full sun location and a good shot of fertilizer and go from there . good luck .
