When will the floor of my pool harden?
Question:The floor of my pool is plastic but underneath the plastic is some sort of sand, and its been about 3 weeks since the pool has been filled with water, and when i go in to swim the floor is still very soft and now theres indents in the pool and at night when you turn on the lights you can see all the indents and it looks really bad..when will it harden and what can i do to take away the indents?
Answers:
when you filled your pool up it was filled to fast and the sand moved when the plastic moved I had the same problem last summer. The packing of the sand takes time and it may even never harden like you want it to . What kind of sand did you get. Some sands wont harden at all and others will be like lime stone in a month of it being packed with all that weight. If you call up Home Depot and ask what you can do to make sure it stays flat. They should be able to help in so many ways its what I did for my kids pool last year up in Washington State.
I am guessing that the sand underneath wasn't tamped prior to setting up the pool. To have avoided your problem, it should have been packed down hard.
The indents you are seeing are where the sand is shifting and packing down. Eventually, the bottom will no longer be soft, since the sand will settle into place, but I can't think of any way to get rid of the indents unless you start all over again.
Good luck!
