Before I went with raised beds, I would use 18" strips of carpet between rows, worked great. Ten years later I'm using those same strips, they ended up between my raised beds. They do double duty in the spring to keep the ground moist to aid germination. The winds in the Dakotas can dry the soil in minutes. RScott
yes i heard that is great for that, i think frogs would like it too, but if by chance it gets moldy throw it out, so it is better in sun
I think it would probably work. Try it you have nothing to lose.
Use old newspapers....Go to the library and get a book about Lasagne gardening.
I'd be concerned about insect infestation with using carpet remnants. Pill bugs (sow Beetles) or "Rolie Polie's" Would inhabit exposed carpet. They in turn would eat your vegetation. You might could use that green astro tuff patio carpeting.
Yes!
It works great and lasts for a long time. You can cover an entire bed with it, and then punch out the holes for your bedding plants.
Since it does look a little low rent left as is (!), just cover it up with a thin scattering of bark chip.
I also use it under walkways and in irrigation channels.
as long as u cover it up with some mulch it should work and look fine... although u should pour boiling hot water over the carpet b4 use as im sure its eben in ur house long enough to catch some sort of bacteria in it!
