Answers:
You do need to prune your clematis to get it to reflower, but since I don't know what type of clematis you have here is an article that may be helpful.http://gardening.about.com/od/perennials...

Deadheading would take days, and it is not necessary. Depending on the type, you could cut it back some and look forward to another bloom in fall. Mine gets very large by summer, so when it's finished blooming I cut it back by about one quarter to one third.
Your plants could be finished for the season as there are different varieties that bloom at different times of the year. They are many spring blooming varieties that just bloom in the spring and other that just bloom through early summer. Then some again like sweet autumn dont bloom until the fall.
I have never deadheaded mine and they put on a great show through the season they are intended for.

If you are not sure what kind you have it would probably never hurt to buy some bloombuster fertilizer and give a little.

They like sun on the top of the plant and shade at the roots. Sounds silly huh? It takes the sun to bloom but also needs some type of thick mulch around the roots or even some perennials around them. Anything to keep the roots cool and happy!
