In Ground Sprinkler Problems....?
Question:I'm having problems with one of the zones on my sprinkler system. As soon as I cut it on, I can hear the pump click on and off about 3 or 4 times, then the water shuts off. This only happens in zone 3, all other zones work properly. Has anybody else had this problem?
Thanks.
Answers:
sounds to me like a solenoid and or maybe the valve, try a solenoid, if it still does it, change the valve to for that zone
if you do not know where the valve is you need a wire locator to find it. if you want, i can give you some tips as to where it may be, if you system is small they maybe easy to find, some people place them right near the water meter, or they may be in the area that that valve controlls.
one common practice if the timer is in the garage is that the valves may be right on the outside of the wall in a flower bed or in the yard right there. same thing, find where the wire comes out of the wall in the basement if the timers in the base ment and see if they are near the outside wall of your house,
It's probably the solenoid sticking. If you know where it is, it can be fairly simple. However, if it's buried you'll have to get an electronic locator to find it. Good luck!
It could also be that the valve needs to be replaced. Open the valve manually. If it works, replace the valve.
