I water my planter that my tomatoes are in everyday! If you have yours just in the ground, then it depends on the moisture level in the soil. Get a cheap tester at the hardware store. Tomatoes love water, but not as much as roses!
Everyday if it's really hot. Otherwise every other day should be enough. Always water in early morning or evening, when the sun isn't so hot. If you water them during the day, in high sun, you will burn them, which will kill them.
