Answers:
First, thank you to you and your family for your sacrifices and service to this country.
Second, you can grow them in any size pot that is larger than one gallon. You should only have one seed per pot because pumpkin are aggressive growers and it will vine out before it flowers.
Once you have established plants, you can pinch leaves or excess vines off so that all the energy from the leaves is redirected into the fruit, which will make then grow larger.
You can even do fun things with then like placing them into wooden boxes and they will grow into that shape, so you can have square pumpkins.
Place four seeds equally around the edge of a large pot. Use good potting mix and fertiliser and water as required. Put the pot in a position for the sun and bees and to allow the plant to send out its trails. Best not to put it in a position that will encourage the plant to hang down as the fruit will be too heavy to allow this. Hope this helps.
