What can I do with a piece of coral building stone?

Question:My neighbor gave me a left over peice of coral stone about a foot and a a half by a foot. It was left over from a multimillion dollar home. It is white on the outside with an interesting bit of fossilized markings and has jagged edges. There are darker patches that are exposed and crumble when poked at. The under color is gorgeous and it has a natural hole in the middle. How can I shape this without breaking and scrape off some of the outer white layer to expose more of the color. I would like to put it in my flower garden as an accent piece, and should I seal it with something?

Answers:
I love coral stone. My pool deck is made of coral stone.Yes, you have fossilised marking in it .Depending how creative you could do something interesting.

- Why don't you get on EBay for example some nice big shells, some star shells and tiny shells...Put them into concrete with your coral stone.. and display it as sculpture in your yard?
-I would probably make a step stone - Put the coral stone in concrete write something in the concrete and : voila !
-Or use as an outside tray - Get at Pier one a nice glass candle holder.Display it in a table center ...You can also add in the candle holder some seashells .

You can do a lot of things !! Good luck and enjoy !
