Coffe Grounds and Plants?
Question:Are coffee grounds good for your plant? If so, do you just put the grounds on the soil or what? I heard that somewhere, just nor sure if its legit.
Answers:
Its legit at my work they use the coffee grounds from the cafeteria as fertilizer for the plants.
I do it,makes a good mulch also. I use it on my veggies too. Just mound it around the base as with any other mulch.
it depends. If you have acid soil, they're not. if you have alkaline soil, they can be. the acid of the grounds helps lower soil pH and that can improve nutrient uptake in many plants.
Worst case, they will add organic value to soil.
Ditto on the PH. You also want to be careful in an area where you might have raccoons. They love coffee grounds.
Hi,I put them in my plants. I heard that your supposed to put them into a compost heap first, and let them decompose, but I don't only because I don't have one. I just throw them into the soil ,and then later on, when I am working in the yard, I mix them into the dirt with a cutivater(hand held one). This is true for Banana Peels too. If you really want to give your yard a boost, sprinkle some Ebsom Salts over your lawn and into the flower beds.Wow talk about a jump to the green! Water in well for three days. Wow I just saw my Dads Space Shuttle Land at Edwards Airforce Base! Sorry,That didn't have anything to do with your question, but Wow what a trip! Bye
I heard that the coffee grounds wouldn't do any good, if you just sprinkle them on the ground, especially the area with lots of moisture in the air. It'll become moldy. I do save and collect them and sprinkle on the ground, but I mix it into the soil. It works like nice additives to the bad soil and makes it richer. Unless you have tons of coffee ground, it won't add any acidity to the soil either.
COFFEE GROUNDS ARE ONLY GOOD FOR ACID LOVING PLANTS.
