Should I remove all the chilli peppers from my chilli pepper plant?
Question:When I bought it, the chilli peppers were green, then they turned white, then they turned purple and now they are all red. My mom says you are suppossed to remove them and use them so that they do not "die" and more can grow. But I think they are pretty just staying on the plant. Should I pick the existing chillis off for the health of the plant?
Answers:
Pick all the ones that are ready to be picked, so more can grow in their place. The idea is not for the plant to be pretty. I've never heard of someone not wanting to pick the harvest from their plant, so I can't say for sure that it'll die if you don't pick 'em, but you're mom's probably right. Or, they may just slough off themselves, or someone else may come and pick 'em. But if the plant dies, it won't be pretty any more.
The plant will put more energy into those that don't need it if you don't remove them but if that is what you want don't worry about what others think is what you want.
yes! once u pick them more ill grow back (as in more than before)
Yes, you need to clear the ones on there now in order for new ones to grow. Otherwise, the plant thinks it is time to die or go dormant.
