How do i kill poison oak and poison ivy??

Question:i have about 2 trees in my back yard and it is growing all over it, my 3 year old son plays outside all the time and i do not want him to get it, someone told me to put epson salt on it and it would kill it, any help?

Answers:
There is a product made specifically to eliminate hard-to-kill brush, vine and tree species that contains the active ingredient "Triclopyr". It is found in several products sold at hardware stores and garden shops under the name of "Brush-B-Gone" or "Brush Killer".

It works in the same manner as Roundup but Triclopyr works more consistently and will not kill any grass that is nearby. It is a selective broadleaf weedkiller so it can also be used on lawns to control dandelions, clover and spurge.

Simply mix the product with water and spray the entire poison oak/ivy. You should begin to see the plant to decline in health within 7 days.

I would also advise you to mix in 2 tablespoons of dishsoap AFTER you mix it with water. The dishsoap will help make more of your spray mixture adhere to the plant (less run-off).

Hope this solves your problem.good luck!

They make a killer for it. Try home depot, etc. If it is growing on the tree, it is ivy. Oak is a small bush looking plant with leaves resembling oak. Look for leaf patterns in multiples of three.
spray it with roundup has for the kid iwill tell you a trick and it works too there is a plant that grows its dark green and its grows in a patch in alot of country yards its about four or five inches tall makes a funny sound when you cut it well anyways

that stuff will get rid of poison oak or posion ivy faster than any thinjg ive every brought at a store.. a old indain told it to me and ive been using every since wish i knew the name but you just pick a couple leaves and rub it in your hands til it gets the sap out of it and run it where the poison is and it will stop fastre than anything ive seen
I would go to home dept and ask them what to use.
The vines can be gotten rid of using a product by Ortho that is made specifically to get rid of poison ivy and oak. I have used it, and it took 3 sprayings over the last summer, but it did get rid of all the poison ivy and poison ok that was on our property.

If your son gets into it, there is a soap product called TechNu. My doctor recommended it, as it removes the oils of the plant from your skin. You can also add it to your wash, to remove the oils from clothing. Also, if your son does react to it, take him to the doctor, there are prescription medicines that will help him recover from it quickly.

Good luck.
