Cantaloupe?

Question:does it attract bees?
how many fruit per plant?
how big is one plant, and what is the climate in which these plants need to grow?

Answers:
All plants that flower will attract bees if there are bees in your area.

Depending on your growing area, variety of plant, and the care given, you can expect 3 to 8 fruits from a single vine.

Depending on the length of the growing season in your area, a vine can reach 20 ft in length, or it can be contained in a 6' radius if you keep it trained.

Melons will grow in most temperate zones if watered well. They prefer full sun, but can tolerate some shade. Should have sun for a majority of the day, plant on the south side of your garden away from trees.

Cantaloupe is in the gourd family and has big blossoms that bees love to visit. It grows on vines that sprawl along the ground, and its favourite climate for developing the sweetest fruit is hot summer sunshine once the fruit is set. One vine can produce several fruits--and a cantaloupe patch is a wonder to behold when all the melons have got big and ready to pick. Yum!
yes they attract bees ;how many per plant, well its actually a running vines it depends on growing condition, i've had them run twenty feet, with 20 fruit , you need long , hot summers for cantaloupe, they cannot take any cold, use black plastic to keep soil nice and warm, compost tea once a week, water frequently , when fruit appear to be ripening , do not water for one week any then pick , this concentrates that sweet flavor, also put a board under each fruit , when they are developing, soil will rot them. watch out for those damn rabbits
You hope it will attract bees, else, pollination will not occur. If no bees, you will have to hand pollinate.

The number of fruit per plant depends upon the variety.
Modern hybrids may produce more, and larger fruit, at the expense of flavor. -just as a "florist" carnation is large, beautiful, but has no fragrance.

The fewer fruit per vine, the larger they will be. A good rule of thumb (green of course) is to not let there be more than two-three fruit per vine.

The plants in general have a spread of six to nine feet. To grow well, they need to have heat, but not hot, moisture in the developing period and dry in the ripening stage. They need anywhere from 75 to 100 days of such climate, to according to the variety, make good growth and good fruit.
