Foul Smelling Cut Grass/Plant?

Question:I live in Missouri and my aunt mows the yards of several neighbors. She stores the lawnmower in my basement and the smell is not the smell of traditional cut grass (that everyone seems to enjoy so much). In fact, the smell is very heavy, cloying, and kind of rotten, and it fills the whole house up very quickly, and makes us feel nautious. Does anyone have any idea what this grass or plant is, and if it is bad for you or not?

Answers:
stink weed or wild onions

Is the mower blade and cowling washed off before storing? If not it could be fermenting grass.
When she is finished mowing, let the mower sit outside till it cools down. Take a Garden spray hose and make sure all the grass is cleaned out from under the mower and around the blade.
The smell is most likely rotting grass clippings, weeds and whatever else she has mowed down while mowing.
A clean mower doesn't smell.
