My neighbors tree branches are hanging over on my property. Can I trim them?
Question:I own my home. I have a pool that the leaves keep falling into.
Answers:
Yes. Any branches of a tree that extend into your yard are technically on your property and okay to cut off.
However, even though the law might be on your side, you might want to let the neighbor know you are trimming them just to keep things on the friendly side.
You don't have to ask permission since they are on your property, it is just the right thing to do. Most "good" neighbors wont mind the branches being pruned back.
Good Luck!
yes you can. but i would go over and say nicely that you need to trim them, just to keep peace. some people are wierd about it. But yes anything hanging or in your yard you are allowed to cut
Generally yes as long as you don't damage the tree.
Of course! Anything that is on your property or over your property line is considered yours. You could also go to court over it if it gets ugly... it's considered a nuisance... and if it damages your pool your neighbor could be held liable. So I would go ahead and trim it! It doesn't harm your neighbor and it's not in their yard.
My neighbour asked me the same question - I had no problem with him cutting the branches - it's his property and he should be able to enjoy it. I'm sure your neighbour (CDN spelling!!) would be willing to work something out.
yes you can...they cannot cut them without your permission because they have to go into your yard, so you are the one that has to cut them.
Absolutely positively YES. There's nothing they can say or do. You're doing them a favor and helping your pool. Before we moved, I would trim branches and toss a ginourmous pile back over the fence to the side it belonged to. Trim on. I'm sure other folks will respond the same on this.
First I would nicely ask the neighbor if you could trim them back a bit. That way,it gives them a bit of a feeling of control to "allow" you to do it. Most people won't have a problem with it and tell you to go ahead and do it. If they have a problem with it,then explain that it is messing up your pool. If they still are having problems cooperating ,I would ask them to do it or that you'll have to contact the authorities.
ask the local legislation first before trimming the tree, generally, it's allowed. However, trimming the branches on on your side of property may make it looked like a hurricane hit you. The trimmings can make your views unnatural. Can you place a net under it? You may even have that tree transferred or cut down if needed.
yeah you can, just don't get obnoxious about it.
someone in my neighborhood got in lotsss of trouble by the cops and had to be fined for doing it. I'd say your best bet is to just let the tree branches stay there. They can provide shade at your house and cool it down...
It would be neighbourly to let your neighbour know that you plan to trim them. They might even offer to do it for you.
You have the legal right as long as you stay on your side.
But you might want to discuss it first, just to avoid trouble.
Ask politely "Would you mind if I trim you tree branches?
the leaves keep getting in my pool, & discolouring the water."
If he objects, ask if he'd like to do the trimming himself.
If that fails, then point out that you have the legal right.
Ask someone down at city hall first if you want a name.
Yes of course ! go ahead !
Legally you can trim straight up the property line.
yup,,, but it is neighbourly to consult your neighbour..
