Can anyone tell me what kind of weed this is? It's starting to spread all over my yard. HELP!?
Question:This weed grows low to the ground, has no flowers on it, looks soft when it's green, and grows in patches that seem to be spreading across our lawn. Even though it looks soft and cushy, if you step on it or touch it, it sticks you with a small spade-shaped thorn that hurts as bad as a sand spur. If you know what this is, can you tell me how to get rid of it?
Answers:
perhaps a puncturevine. If it has a fruit or burr it must have had an inconspicuous bloom that you didn't notice. Some noxious weeds are like that. http://www.weedalert.com/weed_pages/wa_p...
Bring a sample to your local plant nursery, or the nursery at Lowe's or Home Depot--they can help you best.
Dry and smoke. If you have a reaction. It is a good weed.
STICKY AND GREEN?!!! did you smoke it? If you do and get high, its probally weed.
I don't the name but it comes with the fertlizer you buy from KMart or should I say thats where I got mine from. I spent alot of time weeding that grass from my yard. Good luck to you.
I thought it might be goathead stickers, but you said there were no flowers on the weeds.
If you don't have other wanted plants in the way, use Round-up or comparable herbicide. If it is impossible to avoid spraying your lawn, try getting a broadleaf herbicide that says it is safe for lawns. I don't know what it is, but Round-up will kill almost anything. If it doesn't work, try Ortho Brush-Be-Gone, that even kills poison ivy.
Put some in a zip lock and talk to someone at a garden center. Then get their recommendation on a weed & feed spray or powder to kill the little parasite.
