Could be a corn earworm (Helicoverpa zea (Bodie)) also called tomato fruitworm. They prefer corn but will eat most anything in your veggie garden including each other! They can vary in color and green is one of them. Or could be one of the loopers. You can treat the loopers with Bt (Bacillus thuringiensis) a bacterium found in soil. I would head off to your favorite garden center/nursery and bring one of those buggers with you. Someone there can help you pick out a suitable counterattack specific to your problem.
KNow how you feel.Major pests of beans are;slugs and snails, control with Blitzem or Mesurol. Aphids and Caterpillars- control with Target or Orthene. Hope this helps? Good Luck!
Insecticidal soap...or just mix up a batch of good old home remedy.a little dish soap and water,,,spray the plants,,,,repeat.
I do not like to EAT chemicals...so I spray NONE on my Veggies,,,EVER!
Good Luck
