Every year my greengage tree produces good fruit and suddenly just as it ripens it goes completely mouldy?

Question:Can anyone please tell me how to prevent this?

Answers:
I don't know specifically about Greengages but try picking just before ripening and laying them on newspaper in a cool dry place .They should continue ripening.

The only way is to pick it before it ripens.(easier said than done I know) I have the same problem. We are going to cut the b****y thing down this winter. Im sick of the mess.
