Hi! Here in Maryland the native Sweet Bay, (Magnolia virginiana) likes low moist areas but will also do well in normal garden conditions. It flowers in late June and makes a nice specimen planting. I've seen it at perhaps 25 foot tall in the wild. It is available here at most larger nurseries.
I hope this helps. See link below.
Mango maybe. They like swampy conditions.
willow trees like water
try the corkscrew willow!!
***** willows in facct an willow trees love wet areas
Weeping willows will thrive in soggy conditions, watch the roots though, as they can run under concrete and lift it! Check with your council first, as in some places, they are classed as prohibitive plants for the reasons I've given. Have a good day.
Dogwoods like marsh and have lovely coloured branches in winter.
I know a weeping willow does not stay a small tree but it will take care of your water problem, and I'm assuming with the water you probably have mosquito's. Willows love water but be sure there are no pipes around the area. Willows have long roots and can crush pipes. Make sure it is not planted over sewage tank either. I'm sure that it will take care of your problem.
Willow trees like that kind of condition. I don't know if you can get a sycamore tree, but they will grow well.
Depending on availability and cost, a banana tree would do well in the ground, too. But, the climate would kill it in th wintertime unless you're in the U.S. and at around zone 7.5 or higher in climate.
you do not say where, in the world, you are located therefore, it would be unwise for me to advise specific species.
However, may I suggest that you logon to the Royal Horticultural Societies' website. you should be able to gain advice on all plant subjects
