No, and if they're new as you say, return them for a replacement/refund.

Buy a heavier grade of trimmer and I think you'll be happier. Further, be sure to use a heavy enough extension cord. low voltage can burn them up, too.
If gas powered, I hope you mixed oil with the gas! If electric, did you have them on 13 miles of extension cords? Electrics are supposed to have thermal overloads to protect them from over heating. Check both machines to see if they work, now that they have both cooled down. RScott
sounds like you did not mix two stroke oil with the petrol,hedge trimmers will only last five Min's, if you don't mix oil
Yep, you did it! Filled it up with gas without reading the instructions. Yep, taht'll do it.
