Some sort of spray to keep animals out of the garden?
Question:I'm trying to grow a small fruit/vegetable garden this year, but the problem with last year's garden was that animals (mostly rabbits and chipmunks) would get into the garden and eat all the food. We put up a 'bunny fence' to stop the rabbits and it's worked so far, but the chipmunks can just squeeze through the openings.
Is there some sort of nontoxic spray or something that I could put in the garden to keep the chipmunks away? I don't want to hurt them (or the plants), but I just need to keep them out of the garden...
Answers:
There is a product called "Liquid Fence" that you can usually get at your local feed store. You spray it on your plants, and around the perimeter of your garden, and it will repel rabbits and deer. It smells nasty, and I guess that's why it works. However, if you have a problem with armadillos, then this won't help. I believe I paid about $15 for a half gallon of this, and so far, the plants are all still intact!
Good luck!!
use marigolds to keep th bunnies out! Chipmunks are tougher...try mothballs
OK, I'm sorry this is gross. But, have a male pee into a spray bottle, and spray it around the outside of the garden. Works!
Take 1 gallon of warm water and mix 7 Tablespoons of the Hottest Hot sauce you can find in the water shake and spray. May need to reapply a few days later and after rain.
Vinegar...works great for cats... and other animals too......do not put it in the garden, ..... put it around the outside of the garden ..... they don't even want to cross the line ..... really... I buy it by the gal. IT WORKS
