How can I minimize the bugs and musquitoin my yard ?
Question:how can I get my garden started?
Answers:
You may try planting a Citronella plant to keep the mosquitos at bay. Flies and mosquitos are attracted to moisture, so try not to keep any standing water around your garden.
The most important thing to remember is to keep things clean and get rid of any container or clean any surface that can hold and clog water. Mosquitoes and other winged insects are attracted to water and things that serve as food. Mosquitoes in particular breed in puddles of water. Clean your gutters, keep trash bins closed tightly, place pet's food and water inside the house, change water in vases daily and dispose of cans, old tires, jugs, pots, etc. Don't leave food- outside or inside the house- sitting out for long periods of time. Keep lawns trimmed and het rid of weeds, which attract certain types of insects. Citronella candles can help ward off pests if you are BBQing, specially mosquitoes. Change outside light bulbs for "yellow" bulbs. These don't attact insects like regular bulbs do at night and are available in hardware stores.
Mosquitoes and flies transmit illness and are really pesky. If you have a serious problem, consider bug sprays that target harmful flying insects. If you aren't too keen on using chemicals, try spraying plants with a mixture of water and liquid soap (NOT the antibacterial kind as that will kill the plant). There's a product called Safer Soap you might want to look into.
I say you start your garden with Garlic and Onions, which by the way insects hate and repell most unwated bugs.
go to ur local walmart and purchase a bottle of bug-b-gone (the one u can attach to ur hose works best) and spray the area to be planted, ur whole yard, and ur house as well.....it'll keep em away!
