Pruning an evergreen - douglas fir?

Question:The tree looks good, with deep green needles and pine cones. However, two of the branches have brown needles and no green needles. Are the branches dead and should they be pruned or are they just going through the cycle of shedding needles.

Answers:
pruning pine trees is simple, look where the dead branch meets the trunk of the tree or the live part of the branch. you will see a small ring around the branch. when you cut the branch leave the ring intact and the tree will heal quickly.
