Transplanting raspberry bushes?

Question:Last night i had to go to my exs house ( he had a fire in april) He told me I had to dig up the raspberry bushes or they were all going to get run over by the crews coming in to gut the house. So I dug up what I could brought them home. Some had berries turning pink already. Now today they are all wilted and they dont look like they are going that good. Question am I going to lose these bushes and am I going to have to buy more and start over? Someone please help me these 5 bushes were just beauitful and healthy and now they look like they are going to die. I also live in northern wisconsin by upper michigan.

I transplanted some of my raspberries from one area to another; and I suggest you cut away the fruit because too much energy goes to producing the fruit when it should actually be going into producing new root growth. I'd cut the canes down at least a third, keep the soil moist, and keep direct sun away as much as possible for a few days. They may not do great shakes the first year, but I'm pretty sure they'll be established next season. Good luck.

my suggestion having done this before would be to make sure the ground is very saturated with water. this will help prevent the bushes from going in to shock and to establish roots. also, make sure they are getting the same amount of sun as before you moved them. You may not have as much fruit as expected if any this year but as long as they establish roots they should come back to please you next year!
