How do you get rid of silk worms or cut worms?

Question:silk worms are eating all my trees and i need to kill them but i am not tall enough to reach the top

Answers:
We call them web worms in Texas. About 15 years ago, we lost many, many trees to these pests. Products such as Lorsban, Dursban, Orthene... and products containing malathion, acephate or diazinon etc..proved most effective. Some of these products are hard to find or have been pulled off the market. Consult a nursery or landscaper if you can't find them. They're also pretty nasty. Use precaution for yourself, your pets, wild birds, fish...etc.

Certain types of worms can permanently defoliate your coniferous trees and do permanent damage to your evergreens, so don't delay treatment and treat as often as necessary until they're gone.

I'm sending you a link to a site in Austin, Texas..where you'll find extensive experience in dealing with these pests. Web worms aren't just unsightly in your trees, they are threatening the tree itself.

Good luck!!

Well, first of all, silk worms don't live in the USA. But, I'm guessing you mean those caterpillars that make silk nests in trees? You need to get a spray to kill them. If you knock down the nests, they'll just climb back up and build new ones.
Bayer makes a product that is a full-year protection from insects for trees. I highly recommend it. It is applied at the roots. Read the directions before you buy, you may need to reapply at two week intervals, so you may need to buy more than one bottle. It really works...
