How big will my Rhododrendron grow?
Question:I'm growing one in a 18" by 18" pot, how big will it grow? It is currently 3ft by 3ft and growing well .

Keep a close eye on the root system if your going to grow the Rhododendron in a pot... Make sure you "re-pot" it from time to time, so to that the Rhododendron can grow really old and huge... I don't know what the world record is, but I've seen Rhododredons the were enormouse! You should know this to... Or maybe I'm in my right to suspect you just love writing the word alot, and that's why your asking this question? :)
If you want to try something new in your garden, it's time to introduce RUSTY NAILS in your soil! have you heard about this before? You will get some really interesting colors on the flowers... Try it out. It's really cool!
they say you can grow any plant as a bonsi, why not give it a try that way you can keep it to whatever size you like.
Rhododendron comes in full sized and dwarf verities. the dwarf will stay happily in the pot, and eventually become limited in size by the available room tor roots, when you'll have to re-pot to give it some more room.
Full sized verities will grow huge with time, as can be witnessed in most country homes in the UK.
So big that small children love to climb inside the plant's woody stems and play, and it can be difficult finding them and fishing them out.
I'll admit the answer above of making a bonsai plant sounds like a great project to have a go at, and would make a good centre peice for a patio.
I've cut these awfull things down and can tell you they can get huge. I've seen them at over twenty feet high, but bigger in diameter! I dont like em, but if you do them keep it trimmed.
It depends on the variety actually. Find out the variety and then look it up somewhere. This can't be answered correctly without knowing the variety.
