What is wrong with my Black eyed susan plant?

Question:The leaves have black blotches on them.It gets alot of sun,and I do not water them too much. What is wrong, and how do I fix it?

Answers:
Septoria and angular leaf spot diseases can cause the symptoms you described. Remove infested foliage in the fall to reduce the source of disease the next season. Disinfect tools with a 10% bleach and water solution or 75% alcohol.

Reduce problems with Septoria leaf spot, a fungal disease, by properly spacing the plants. Thin out seedlings and avoid overhead watering. Plants with a history of this disease can be treated with a copper-containing fungicide starting in mid June as a preventative treatment. There is not much else that you can do once they show the signs of infection.

sounds like u might need to water more, i am no expert but the leaves sound to me like its getting burnt from the sun. Try giving it some more water and put some plant food like miracle grow on it. Just a suggestion. Tina
I have 3 acres of wild Susans..want more?
You may need to water them more or it could be a fungus on the plants. Or you could even have a bug eating on them.

Water them more. If that doesn't help. Try a fungicide. Then try an insecticide on them.

Or you could take one of the leaves to a local nursery to show them and see if they could help you.
black eyed susan are drought tolerant, and don't need to be watered every day.water when the soil is dry a few inches below the plant.and be sure to plant them in the sun.
