Answers:
If the plant turned light green before going brown, it's probably not getting enough sun. Bamboo is pretty durable, so if you are giving it plenty of water you should be ok. Stick it outside for a day and see if that helps.
Try giving it some plant food, you can buy these from the garden centres, it comes in fluid form or little food sticks that you put in the soil each month i think. Sometimes some plants don't like to much sunlight either.
maybe it's getting too much light? i've known people who ended up putting them in a room that's very shadowy & they thrived.
i have three of these myself..i had to put them in water untill they had roots then the directions said to place them in soil they had provided..2 of the three are doing good...but still little yet
I have one of those, it's awesome. Sounds like you may be watering to frequently. I let mine totally dry out before I fill it with water.
guess it's not that lucky then!
I don't know the answer -but have had the same problem with my 'lucky bamboo'. It isn't really bamboo, by the way - just a type of reed. I have tried putting it in area with less light, putting it closer to a window w/no direct sunlight, watering less, more, adding plant food to water. ONe stalk is completely dead, the others have yellow leaves. I think you should ask at the store where you bought it (or one that sells them, if someone gave it to you). I have seen these plants in restaurants thriving.
Mine is planted in gravel and I only water is purified water as I was told tap water would kill it. I have mine sitting on a window sill that is not in the full sun but has light. It has grown about 8 inches in height in 2 years. You can also fertilize if you choose.
any plant can be killed if you over love it. First off, empty out the water and see if it's smelly. Just dump it out, run some new tap water in there. Go to wallgreens or your local market and get "green grow" (they sell it where you buy the bamboo). For lack of a better term, it's bamboo juice. Makes it strong. A few drops a month, and you've got yourself a happy plant. I've forgotten them a few times and they always bounce back. Just make sure that you trim the brown off.
Good luck!
