Sunny osteospermum is it a perannial flower?

Question:

Answers:
Where? It is native to South Africa. Treat it as an annual if your average minimum winter temperature is less than 20 to 25 degrees F (-3.9 to -6.6 degrees C). USDA hardiness zones listed for this plant are 9-11. Here is what Washington State University has to say about Osteospermum: "Members of the genus Osteospermum are fine examples of continuously blooming perennials, some of which we grow here as annuals since they can’t tolerate our winters." Even the BBC lists Osteospermum as tender and "Needs overwintering indoors." So is it a perennial? It is in South Africa or where your winters are warm enough for it to survive. For all of us other unlucky gardeners, treat it as a half hardy annual & replant every year.

Yes. In the UK.
It is NOT a perennial in western NY
I am in the UK and have been growing them as part of a mixed border for some years, I have never botjhered to protect them from frost. I have lost 1 plant which was in an exposed position in my garden to a very hard frost -9 was recorded locally but if they are in a shelted spot you should not have a problem. You could divied your plants in the autumn and keep some protected from frost if you are worried about this to ensure that you do not loose any.
