Why are the flowers falling off my clematis?

Question:

Answers:
It could be a couple of reasons, but usually they will drop flowers if the watering cycle is causing stress to the plant...Clematis needs a fairly steady moisture content in the soil...If they are allowed to dry-out then saturated with water again and again, the flowers may begin to drop, especially in extremely hot weather. This is natural and the plant does it to conserve energy...If you establish a routine watering shcedule (not too much water either) the flowers should return.

good luck

I agree. Clematis can be very fussy. Make sure you have the root of the plant covered with mulch. They like to have their foliage out in the sun, but the roots covered in the shade.
do you mean petals? during its cycle the petals will drop off and their seed pods will develop. this is natual. but you must be consistent with moisture, keeping the roots mulched and cool while the main plant is warm in the sun. clematis are touchy!
