Pampas grass questions. I have a pampas grass plant that is in it's 2nd. year in my garden.?

Question:It is healthy looking and has grown a lot but has never had any plumes. How old or big does a plant have to be in order to have those pretty plumes? Also, I have pulled up about 6 little plants that "look like" pampas grass and were coming up a few feet from the big plant. Can pampas grass multiply that way? It could be just weeds that look a lot like pampas grass.

Answers:
We called the Pampas Grass the pompous azz as it takes over and grows huge and multiplies. I think something is unique to your area or yard that it does not plume as even in the worst summers it plumes in the Shenandoah Valley. It grows and spreads and spreads and grows and we hooked it to the bumper and pulled that sucker out and then planted it in another yard and then cut it down with the chain saw and mow over it now for the 2nd year to kill that huge spreading thing in the yard.

Mine had plumes the first year. And that stuff spreads like crazy.
