There is a biological control that contains Bt. Go to your L&G Center and get some--different manufacturers make it. It kills the caterpillars but not other beneficial insects.

What kind of caterpillars are they? I had some a couple years ago eating my parsley and I squished them, only to find out later they would have turned into beautiful swallow-tailed butterflies. Now I plant extra parsley and move the caterpillars that are one the parsley I want to eat to the parsley I set out for them.Problem solved!
In North Texas right now we have web worms. They make ugly webs to protect themselves from birds and they eat almost all the leaves off the trees they attack. Thank goodness there are trees they don't like to attack.

They normally come in the fall but this year here they are in the early summer!

If you can reach the limbs you can cut those webs out or at least tear them open for the birds to eat.

You can buy special spray at the garden store and follow the directions but it will still take a couple of weeks to kill them.

Any time you are planting trees you can stay away from trees that attract them.
I have lived in Texas most of my life and the best thing for me is to use Sevin Dust. It will not kill your plants but it sure kills the caterpillars. Those really ugly ones with the evil face got on my moonflower vine and I killed those little devils with Sevin Dust.

Good luck.
