Has anyone ever tried lawn aerator sandles? Do they work?

Question:

Answers:
The best way to aerate is with a core aerator. Those sandals use spikes, which in many ways, further compact the soil. Whether they are good or bad for your lawn is a source of debate.

My personal feeling is that they are a waste of time, and may actually cause more harm than good.

I guess I bought a cheap pair because the straps broke in just a few tries. I have noticed little change in my lawn. I now have a core aerator and it really works. It digs deep (about 4" ) and pulls out a core of lawn. Now water is able to get deeper into my lawn.
