I would like some information on water lilys?

Question:I have 3 water lilys one is 3 years old and bloomed for the first time this year the other two i bought this year my question is that they bloomed for about a week and then went under water am I supposed to clip them after they submerge? and if not am I supposed to do anything at all? thank you all

Answers:
Later in the year you can lift them and split the bulb up. You will end up with multiple lily plants then!

Probably just leave them and in the warmer months give them a slow release formula special made for aquatic plants.
Some "go below" to set seed, you can dead head them if you don't want seed and they should bloom more later, or more next year depending on variety. RScott
I take mine off down to the plant BEFORE they submerge. All they will do is rot in your pond.
Water lilies close their blooms back into the bud shape and then the stalk collapses and goes under the water. Yes, you should take the spent blooms off.

They should bloom throughout the spring season--but the trick to them blooming constantly during that time, is that they must get at least 6 hours of direct sunlight every day. If they get more shade than sun, they will stop blooming after you get them. They also need to be in about 12-15 inches of water and get lily pellets pushed into the soil once a month during the blooming period.

Always remove ragged leaves when possible as all of the plant material that isn't removed will eventually deteriorate which will affect the water quality of your pond.

Good luck!
